Ephesians 4:17-24 - Putting Off and Putting On

We are all constantly changing and growing. People like to talk about how we're never really the same person from one moment to the next. But those in Christ are truly new people in a completely profound way, those in Christ are new people in a supernatural way because grace changes everything! So how we get this new identity? How does this play out? We take a little look at that in Ephesians 4:17-24.

Eph. 4:17   Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. 19 They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. 20 But that is not the way you learned Christ!— 21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 3:14-21 - The Prayer of Paul

Download the audio here.

Eph. 3:14   For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Eph. 3:20   Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Luke 15:1-10 - Lost

Download the sermon here.
Luke 15:1-10
Luke 15:1   Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”
Luke 15:3   So he told them this parable: 4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ 7 Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

Luke 15:8   “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ 10 Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Ephesians 2:1-10 - The Winning Ticket

We've all got pretty messy lives. Whether it's because we've hurt others or been hurt by others, we all know that we mess it up sometimes and we just want someone to love us. God says he doesn't care how messy we are, because his relationship with us isn't about what we've done, but about what he's done. So what does that mean for us? Wes Martin explores Ephesians 2:1-10.

Luke 10:25-37 - Who Is My Neighbour?

We all know we're supposed to help people, but who? And how? And what do we do with the fact that we don't do that very well? Are we bad people? How can we be better? What help is there for us when we need it? What is our hope? That's what we look at in this sermon from Wes Martin on Luke 10:25-37

Ephesians 1:15-23 - The Politics of Spirituality

How would it change us if we believed something like "A supernatural, all-powerful, deity that loves me enough to die for me was in control of everything"? Sounds like a strange question. But Christians actually believe that Jesus is King. How does that change us? What does that give us? Pastor Wes Martin discusses the politics of spirituality from Ephesians 1:15-23.

Ephesians 1:1-14 - For No Good Reason

We are all afraid of being rejected. We're all hurting because someone abandoned us or people let us down. But we all desperately want to be loved. We want to be loved for who we are as we are. And that is available, says Ephesians 1, through Jesus. In this sermon, Pastor Wes Martin looks at Ephesians 1 to see that God loves us just because he loves us.

Eph. 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,
To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus:
Eph. 1:2   Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eph. 1:3   Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
Eph. 1:11   In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
